One of my non cuber friends told me yesterday that he'd seen two different things on TV which had to do with cubing. Maybe it is going through another peak.
I keep a speedcube in my car and when I see a hobby store that has bad cubes I try to sell them on the idea of their selling real speed cubes instead of the crap. I don't think the hobby can take off until they're sold in brick and mortar stores. Not because brick and mortar will be cheaper (they can't) but because there will be a *lot* more exposure.
