algorithm reading help plz

I don't understand this. This algorithm is r' (R U) (R U R' U' Rw2) (R'2 U) (R U') Rw' So, first off, what is each little parenthesis group for? Secondly, between the 2nd and 3rd parenthesis group, it says Rw2)(R2 Wouldn't that judt do M2? Lastly, the beginning, it says r'(R What is the difference between the lower case and capital letters, and wouldn't r' R just be pointless?

Yes, Rw2 R2 is the same as M2.

Parentheses don't make a difference in the execution of an algorithm it's just to group them into easier to memorise chunks, or to make triggers apparent.

In the future, the one answer question thread would be a better fit for this.

The parenthesis don't mean anything, it just breaks down the alg to try to make it easier to remember (sometimes it doesn't help at all :p).
By writing M2 as r2R'2 and M as r'R it just show how that person would perform wide turns then outer layer turns rather than doing M slices, they do the same thing.

Whoever gave you the alg just fails at notation for switching between r and Rw.

here's another alg for that OLL/ELL case btw: r U R' U' M2 U R U' R' U' M'
