WCA stands for World Cube Association

WAC stands for WCA Advisory Council

I have seen many new cubers thinking WAC is a typo. Also after getting to know the full form, the words Advisory and Council needs a lot of explaining.

Is there a way to clear this confusion?
Maybe rename colloquially WAC to something more distinguishable.

P.S.: I am the current WAC leader, and have faced this a lot. I am asking the community for some open ideas. If you think this post is not well made, please skip it and leave your comment on how to frame it better and make it a more relevant questions.

I was typing more or less the same when got a notice that there was a new post...

I suppose it's easy to dismiss as a typo if you've never heard of the WAC before, but it is quickly cleared up with a short explanation. An alternative might be WCAAC.
That or keep the official name and ditch the acronym, using a single word (like Advisors or the Council) instead, when a short version is desirable

This is no longer an issue as WCA dissolved the Advisory council without giving a notice period to its members or a clear closure or roadmap. There was no conclusion and our work from 2019 was not appreciated.

WAC's activities and roadmap was not cared about and it was hard for us to function when the board cared so less. I feel my work and efforts towards the WAC for the past 5 years were irrelevant as there was no usage of the projects or the projects being given traction or merit.

This is so sad to hear, as the theme of "the board didn't even make the effort to make it look as if they advised anyone" seem to be a repeated theme.

I think the advisory council was misleading.

Our task was mainly WCA forum moderation and to understand the community through feedbacks.

We were never given power or attention when we decided to start new activities related to community outreach,

And then we are ultimately dissolved without any proper reasoning or notice.

wow

just when I thought the wca board hit rock bottom, they further solidify that they don't care about the community's opinion
