[IDEA] Cross Creation with more Algs

But turning completely intuitively means more efficient and developing that skill gives that cross that's planned out in inspection an almost algorithmic feel...

This can also be very useful if you are color neutral, if you come across a side where all of the edges are in the right layer, but out of position and order, you can easily use this PLL and OLL to get below optimal (7 moves)...

Cross with algs? NOT A GOOD IDEA. You do need to use your brain to solve the cube, if you are going to be lazy and just find the "easy way out" you are not going to learn anything and you will just be a robot executing one huge algorithm.

(Sorry if that sounded a little too harsh.)

I am not trying to work torwards just executing one large algorithim, and I agree that you should also be able to solve intuitively, and understand how the cube works. However, if you are color neutral and use this, it can be helpful if you find a side where 3-4 of the edges are in the right layer, but out of position or orientation. This is only meant to add on, and I'm not even sure it should be used for speedcubing. I do not suggest that you use this all the time, only for specific edge orientation cases.

Example of a cross solve using this method posted: Cross Solve

It is 3 moves above optimal, or four if you count turns.
I execute intuitive crosses like algorithms.
I'll time this and time intuitive later when I have a cube rather than using that and dragging to turn, but;
z2 F2 U R2 D' R' D' 4 moves less, which would be much faster. But as I am doing it intuitively, you can preserve pairs, or make them easier (sometimes just adding a U or U')
That could be z2 F2 U R2 D' R' L' U' L u' L' U2 L. 2 moves more and I solved a pair too.
So even if it were slower, which it isn't, because it uses intuition, you can think about the next step too.

So I too am not all gung ho for the algs idea, but one thing to consider is that if you had an alg for the cross. then you could spend more time looking for your first f2l piece or two since the cross would be thoughtless. Just something to consider, the cross would be like oll looking into pll

The cross is thoughtless. I already can look for F2L. He's doing cross on top. How will he see F2L then?

The biggest problem with an idea like this is that it prevents you from properly developing the intuition of how the cube works and how to move several pieces around at once. That kind of thing is essential for more advanced cubing, but it can only be developed with practice and thought, so you really don't want to skip that part. Just keep playing around with the cross and eventually you'll get good at it without any weird substeps.
