Got this idea from the most recent Dlsone podcast. Everyone add your experiences!

I was such a noob at my first comp, I didn't know you had to place the cube on a scorecard for it to be scrambled. I sat in the competitor waiting area wondering why after 15 minutes nobody had asked me to give them my cube so it could be scrambled... :p

Uh... My times sucked? But they were actually really good for me at the time...

Actually I do have one. I was playing with someones stickerless Zanchi, and dropped it. It may have popped. Well popped isn't the right word. Torpedoes went more than one place.

My first ever solve in comp was a +2 because I started the timer with my palms on the sensors instead of my fingertips :fp
it was also my worst solve in the avg, even without the +2 :P

I was quite prepared at my first comp, got no DNF's nor +2's, and I even got bronze medal at megaminx (2:50.xx, didn't make cutoff). My only bad experiences that day were because of cutoff times, that i couldn't make. But I never got last place, and i didn't make it into the 2nd round of 3x3 because of the single (and I had a pop on the last solve... and my solves were bad too, not sub-30).
I also got 4x4 PB single because of using another competitor's 4x4 (mine had terrible stickers, and it was an eastsheen). Nice comp it was!

At my first comp nobody was talking to me and my brother so my dad said to the group at the table "so do you all know JRCuber?". they all looked at us like we were aliens and said "yea" awkwardly.

At my first comp(New Zealand Champiships 2010) my first solve was a 2x2 one, since they did 2x2 and OH before 3x3. This comp's venue was a Te Papa. There was a stage with hundreds of people watching (not sure exaclty of the number, but must of been around 200-300, anyway ther were a lot of people watching). They had tables that look like cubes. I was sitting in the middle front one. I had never used a stackmat before. I had no promblems starting it, on the first solve but, did have one DNF in 2x2 due to that inexeprince. Back to my first solve. I had learned the algs nessary for LBL in the last few days, I also revised them during the drive to the comp (I didn't live in Wellington then). Unfortunantly I keep screwing up LL. About 7 times overall. Each time I got more and more nevrous and annoyed. My final time was 1:42.00. Getting a DNF in 2x2 meant my first offical 2x2 average was worst than my 3x3 average and until my second comp New Zealand Nations 2012, I was offically better at 3x3 than 2x2.

The week prior to that comp I practised a lot, due to my exictement of being able to go to a comp, I was unable to go to New Zealand Champianships 2009 which also happened to be the first competion in Oceania. I autcally improved 10 seconds at 3x3 in a week from around 1:00 to 50 seconds.

Looking back, maybe the fact I had only just learned those algs didn't help, but it was the really was me being nervous. I didn't have much of a promblem with nerves after that solve. Also I remember when putting my 2x2 on the sorcecard I was the only one using a Rubik's 2x2 (the old one). It was tiny compared to all the Lanlan's everyone else used. I did borrow someones lanlan for 3 of my solves.

ANother note, I would of completed in 4x4 and 5x5 but I was no where near the cut offs. I was also using Rubik's for those puzzles as well. But I did but a Lanlan 2x2 and the F-II. Which were my first speedcubes.
