I suck at the cross. Help!

The other day, I was trying to figure out where to improve my times. I tried a little experiment. I scrambled the cube, solved the cross, then started the timer and solved the rest of my cube. My time was about 15 seconds less than I normally average. I did this a few times, and it always took me much less time without having to solve the cross.

My average without solving the cross is about 10 seconds less than my average with solving the cross. I solve the cross on the bottom, but I don't really do it efficiently.

Does anyone have any resources for helping me learn to solve the cross quickly and efficiently?

Stick with solving it on the bottom.

Just Practice.

I am pretty sure this has been repeated a lot of times before.But again.
1.Make the cross at the bottom.
2.Try solving the cross blindfolded and practise.
3.Read the three colour rule. Some people find it useful.
4.Spend a full afternoon solving/analysing only your cross and nothing else.
