If you want to learn to be color neutral, you shouldn't start with easy scrambles. Here is what I suggest.
- First, do some number of solves (maybe 50 or 100) on each side. This will get you used to actually using every color.
- Next, do a few hundred solves where you randomly choose the color. Maybe you could throw the cube in the air and use whatever color points up when you catch it. This will get you used to starting with whatever color you want, no matter what you did in the previous solves.
- Then, do maybe 50 or 100 solves where you spend 15 seconds on each color finding the best cross, and write down how many moves it is. Then start with the side that gave you the best one. This will get you used to finding and using the best cross.
- Finally, start doing solves where you spend the normal 15 seconds and choose any cross that looks good. Remember that you want to use the best one no matter what color it is.
