I've been trying to get started doing One Handed cubing, but I'm just not having much luck at all. To start with, I have great difficulty making any turns at all, primarily because the layers wont line up perfectly even, and so I am unable to turn it. With every turn I make, it seems like I then have to go back and try to perfectly align all the layers before I can make my next turn... and this takes me longer to do than making a turn in the first place!

And next, doing fridrich, I can get up to doing the last layer alright, but then I can't do any of the algorithms one handed, because I just don't remember them. Should I be starting over from scratch and relearning all of my algorithms in order to do OH, or should is that not necessary?

Edit: Blah, the title of this post was supposed to be "I cant get the HANG of OH"

If you have your algs memorized by patterens they form on the cube, OHing them should be pretty easy. You just have to do them a few times to get them up to proportional speed. If you are serious find some 2-gen algs (R and U) (or L and U if you are righty)

I just started my OH today. I've done it before but now I looked some tutorials. Now I took my left hand (cause those R U turns.). Even though I have a very small hand I get still 2 min times and sub-2... Just practise and practise... Hope I'll get sub-1 soon :D

It's really weird because a few week ago my OH was ~2. I stopped because of BLD and 4x4. A few days ago I did a solve and got 1:04.xy.

OH amnesia is common among those who don't practice OH regularly. It's even happened to me during competition solves.

Hmph...tighten your cube if the layers are becoming unaligned so easily, you should not use such a loose cube for one-handed (I actually use a fairly tight Joy [they are stabler {is this a word?} than most cubes]). Why re-learn your algorithms? I didn't, but since I started doing one-handed (basically since I started cubing) I have learned many more algorithms than I normally would have...so I know multiple PLLs and OLLs. Just practice and you will eventually get used to it, many people I have talked to about getting better at OH have actually come to love it :D Good Luck!!!!

P.S. - I accidently cut off three of my fingers at birth (no just kidding, I was born this way xD) so now I can only use my left hand for one-handed cubing.

Much of the text above this point is rambling :D

Just practice. I've seen someone forget the U perm during one of their solves in competition. He would have been sub-1 for that if he hadn't :(

Just try to learn your algs by the patterns, not by the letters or by 2H muscle memory. I'm forced to do my OLL parity on the 5+cubes at the end because I learned the algs with the white patterns. Not the fastest, but it beats messing up and having to resolve the edges...

I just finished learning OH PLL. It's really cool.

There are OH PLLs?????? Wow!

LOL LOL LOL! :D
There are special PLL-s that make you faster. They don't contain bad turns such as L and others. (when lefthanded.. with righthanded then don't contain R). I don't use them cause I just started and I'm not so good but I think I'll do it after some time when my 2H is better already.

L is a bad turn on left hand OH? Wow!

Have you ever done OH with left hand? :D THIS IS AWFUL TURN! R U are good but L is worst turn in my hand :D

I have never done OH with my left hand before.

Then try it.. It's the same to do with right hand R turns. Much better is to do L and U with right. I use left only because most of the algs need R U turns.

It's A LOT easier to do z then U'/U to do an L turn...

Well yea but L is still at my opinion the worst turn while OH...
