I am asking for quick links to square-1, into the cube form, guides.

Actually the link that Tim provided is the only one I know of, are there others? (I'm just looking for alternative methods, not necessarily better.)

There was/is a really easy way on http://nerdparadise.com/ but I don't have a direct link and the homepage has no links at all

It has moved to here:
http://www.thedryeraseboard.com/mechpuz/square1/solution/step1/ (There was actually one link hidden in the long message on his old homepage :))

I had never seen this before actually. I think this is the closest someone has ever got to an easy to understand explanation for making both layers square. If been trying to come up with one for years but still haven't managed to do it.

But as Blake points out in his introduction on that page, you mostly have to play with it for a while and work it out yourself (not a very nice answer, I know).

Yep, that is the method I learned from. Basically you get all the "edges" together on 1 layer and then you distribute them back to both layers. And after that solving the entire square-1 only requires 2 half algorithms (A and B). All I added was 1 decent parity fix and some intuition and that is enough to solve it in about 1 minute (on a bad square-1)
