How to solve the LanLan 12 Side Puzzle?

It IS a 3x3, but the pieces are cut in a special way. Try to find the 6 axis', and those are the centers. Then, figure out which pieces are the corners and edges.

Tutorial: the center pieces of a 3x3 = the pointy 4 colored pieces of lanlan thingy. The3 colored are corner pieces and the flat one colored are edge pieces. Do cross, and f2l, then use beginners method LL.

Solve it just like a 3x3. It doesn't look like a 3x3 but that is all in your mind. If you practice thinking of it like a regular cube, you will get better.

As there are two identical versions of each edge piece, there is possibility of a parity. This can be solved by swapping the pieces you want to swap, and at the same time swap two identical edge pieces.

For example, if you want to swap two last layer corner pieces in FR and FB, do a L2, then do a T-perm, and then undo the L2.

If you set it up carefully, you can eliminate centers being twisted by 90deg however sometimes the top center piece can be turned 180deg. If this happens, I use

(R U R' U)x5. It's a fast trigger and easy to remember.

First thing to do when you get a new puzzle is try to figure out if it is really a 3x3x3 or a 2x2x2 or a skewb or some other simpler puzzle in disguise. If you can, great. Try out similar techniques as you use on the simpler puzzles. Usually you will run into some kind of extra challenge. Try to figure it out.

If you succeed in this strategy, then you will have solved the puzzle on your own, rather than learning how to solve it from someone else.

I used to think of the pieces of odd shaped puzzles as their cube counterparts, but now I like thinking of them as they are. For example, with the puzzle in question I start by picking a 4-sided corner. Then I put the 4 center rectangles around the corner, matching the colors. As I am doing this I make sure the corners on the opposite end of the center is also oriented correctly.

Yes, it's just a 3x3 shape mod. However, don't you need to worry about center orientation? Easy fix, but it's still one extra algorithm.

Yeah do this ^^^^^^^^^^

Hi everyone,
this is my first post here, so please excuse me for being noob. I'm looking for a solution to Tony Fisher's Rhombic Dodecahedron( this: http://cube4you.com/lanlan-dodecahedron-black-p-158.html, youtube link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8lwLOslXE6k). This thread is the closest i could find. The puzzle i'm talking about is obviously different than 3x3x3, it has 4 axes. It's a skewb modification and Tony Fisher writes that you should use a skewb equivalent to solve it. But i just cant seem to wrap my mind about converting skewb algorithms to this dodecahedron. Can someone help me?
