How to solve cross on the bottom?

solving cross on bottom is not efficient as much as solving it on top .
I'm averaging about 7 sec for that but i can solve it about 3 on top !
maybe i need more practice

It takes a bit of practice, and while the cross isn't quite as easy to do on the bottom, the lookahead to F2L is a lot better.

ehhhh it all depends on what you practice, some people do good look ahead with cross on top and some on bottom, some on left.

It pretty hard at first for me. Sometimes it's just driving me crazy. But if u practice a lot. It will help. Also, while u learning how to solve the cross on the bottom, learn how to look ahead is well. Just slow down and LOOK AHEAD.

The eventual goal is to be able to completely plan the moves needed for the cross during pre-inspection. When you can do that, solving on the bottom is obviously no harder. The tip to practice solving the cross blindfolded is a really good one.

If you can do cross on bottom bld, then you should have no issue doing the cross while looking ahead to see your first pair. I'm not going to lie, sometimes when I'm doing my cross (I still do it on top, but find an R2 or L2 etc that I turn into an r2 or l2 to get the cross on bottom), if I see a pair that's already paired up that will get affected by my next cross move, I'll do a quick RUR' or something to get the pair out of the way so I have an easy insertion, then finish my R or R2 etc for the cross.

One way to see how to do cross on bottom is to plan out your cross on top, don't execute it. Take your cube and rotate it, x2 or z2 it doesn't really matter, now look at how you did your top solve planning and then take those moves and turn them into what it will be with cross on bottom. What you have to do with this though is make sure you understand how the pieces move as you probably won't be able to plan for top then "translate" the algorithm into one you'll use for x2/z2 in 15 seconds (actually 12 but you know). I'm only suggesting this technique so you can see how pieces move around while doing cross on D.

I used to do cross on top. Now I do cross on F or B, then transition to D.
This allows for some look-ahead. Then again, I solve cross in 2.5 seconds on average, so I can't see very much occasionally.

Imma do a small average of cross. A solve with "p" afterward means I preserved a FL corner.

Of 20 cross solves, the average was 2.33 seconds with cross on F (predominantly), U (maybe 4 times in there), or D (twice, at most).
Getting fast crosses on F allows me to preserve corners to get possible x-crosses before ADFing. This is why I never ADF after preserving a corner or multiple corners.

I hate to be so outspoken, but why are so many people answering; there are already many threads on this and f2l on B. heck, there are even threads on cross+f2l on R or L. this is so pointless, like that other thread a couple of days ago on "is practicing good?". =_= just do some research; there are so many cube sites and youtube channels. not every question everyone has needs personal attention from the community.

wanna bet?

Yea if we're talking movecount as an interpretation of efficiency then we will see no statistical difference between top and bottom, or any side, for that matter.

If we're talking speed then it's all relative and based on the solvers comfort with the side they're using. Woner is fastest with cross on U but solves F2l with cross on L so my advice is practice whatever you want, but advise cross on bottom, as I agree that it provides the best lookahead for f2l transition.

This

A: Practice 100 hours with cross on U.
B: Practice 100 hours with cross on D.

I cannot see how A would be a better choice.

^ this ^

cross on U, or D, or F, or any side is only better for someone because they practiced it that way more. You can do the cross on any side in exactly the same amount of moves, and if you practice that side enough, with exactly the same speed.

I say solve the cross on whatever side you're going to hold it on for F2L. Otherwise you'll have to do an unnecessary cube rotation.

I just began solving the cross on bottom and while the cross is taking me longer right now I've been able to look ahead my time for solving the second cross has greatly improved.
