How to lube a rubik's snake?

Hi.

So I found this rubik's snake from my cupboard today. It's soviet and moves kinda crappy. Already got 3 sub-10 solves (my brother just thought me it and now I beat him with 5 seconds at least). So how should I lube my snake? Just pull the joints apart a bit and spray silicone in? or HOW?

Wow, I never thought about lubing a snake. I would either do it how you described, but that would be a lot of sprays as they have a lot of joints, or I would spray the lube onto a cotton bud and wipe the lube in between the joints.

I will try this later on and post back the results. If it works, I may be able to get some sub-4 solves.

just got sub-8 and got tired of it.. so I'll 3x3 now a bit.
That's what I thought that it's a lot of silicone in it then.. and the most iof it will come out.. you're idea is pretty good.. I'll try when I have some time..

I'm not sure lubing is a good idea. Maybe for a brand new snake, but be careful: If it becomes too loose and doesn't stay together well, you'll need to be very accurate when solving and putting it down. My snake was like that after a lot of solving, and often I could solve it sub-2 but still get a time of >2.5s because I had to make sure it stays in the ball shape after I've stopped the timer.

actually that's a very good point. Many times I have slammed the ball shape on the mat and it finishes up wonky, therefore not solved. Lube may make it worse. But if your snake is old and stiff it might help a little.

Johannes, do you have any snake solving videos? I want to see your technique as you are the best.

yeah i tried lubing mine its was ok but not much better i only got a 12.63 solve thats also my record
