I recently learned oll but I have a hard time applying the algs as soon as I see the case. Is there a good way to practice?

Is it recognizing the OLL or recalling the alg that you struggle with? anyway, both will come over time with only solving normally.

I changed the title by replacing "recognizing" with "recalling", they're two different things. In cubing, recognition generally refers to what cases look like, not what the algorithms for them are, whereas recalling refers to remembering what algs you have to do for certain cases.

You'll get more familiar with your algorithms as you practice more. It's possible that you learned OLL algs too quickly though.

I suggest taking a step back and becoming more comfortable with your algs, before getting into LL drills. When learning full OLL, it's recommended that you don't learn more OLL algs until you're comfortable with all the ones you already know, so I suggest that you thoroughly go over the algs you have trouble with, one at a time.

Try the Last Layer Competition. That should help with recognising/recalling/executing OLL/PLL algorithms.

It won't help him with recalling OLLs because there is inspection time.

Seriously, just solve... recalling speed will come. And try doing what Sarah said.

I agree and disagree.

Inspection time does not have anything to do with recalling the alg. If you can't recall the alg, even a 100 second inspection would be useless.

And I agree that the competition wont help him. Don't do the competition. Just practice and run-back over your algs to make sure you actually have them memorized.
