How to get faster at the 4x4?

I've been working on my 4x4 times and have not seen much improvement. I can't seem to get any faster. I'm averaging around 1:50. My eastsheen 4x4 is a great cube, I dont think the cube is the problem. I've learned advanced edge pairing. Does anyone have any tips on solving the 4x4 faster?

Practice, use redux, practice, get a mefferts/QJ, practice...

I couldn't avg below 1:40 with my ES. Then I got a QJ and boom! sub-1:20 avg in 4 days.
