Hello,

My 9 yr old started liking it and he is solving it in 55 seconds and he wants some help in moving it to next level. If any one can guide him that will be great.

Thanks

My son learned at a similar age (he was 8 when he first solved it). Honestly, the best thing is just to practice, a lot. My son had a PB (personal best) of about 1 minute 20 seconds for quite a long time. Now he regularly solves in under 40 seconds, and the only thing that's changed is that he's practised a lot. He still uses almost exactly the same method. That's not to say that your son wouldn't get faster if he learned new algorithms (he will) but he doesn't necessarily have to learn new algorithms to get quite a bit faster. Another thing that seems to help kids at that age is watching YouTube videos.... There are plenty of good ones on things like F2L, OLL, PLL algorithms, finger-tricks, and various other useful things to know about.

Hope this helps, and good luck to your son!

Since he's 9, I wouldn't load him with OLL and PLL cuz they have a lot of algorithims to remember.
Tell him to learn something called 2 Look OLL and 2 Look PLL... it has like a total of 14 algs, or around there and it got me to around 30s.
Eventually he will need to learn Fridrich Method, but thats a very hard transition

Look up the terms "2 Look OLL" and "2 Looks PLL"
The best tutorials are by a guy named ParadoxCubing...It's the video where I learned it from.

Good Luck!

I don't know for you, but when I was younger I was ready to learn everything needed for the new hobby I just found. Maybe he could give it a shot right after 2 looks ?

Tell him to keep practising and search up tutorials on youtube on how to get faster. With some determination, he will find methods, algorithms, tricks, techniques, and will improve a lot very quickly. Good luck!

I was ready to learn everything too, but at that age, I didn't have the patience....

I got my averages from 2 minutes to 40ish seconds by getting a new cube, lubing it, etc.
And practicing!
