There is a different way to go about it.
A 30-second solver and a 10-second solver go to a competition together.
Both are nervous.
The 30-second solver gets a 31.50 average due to his nerves. Worse than his 30-second global average.
The 10-second solver gets an 11-second average due to his nerves. Well worse than his global average at home.
Now you see why there is not that much reason to even be nervous. The nerves might make you lose a second on your solves, or at worst a little more, but in the end the thing that gets you your result is the long months/years of practice.
No matter how great a day the 30 second solver has, he is not going to beat the 10-second solver, no matter how bad the 10-second guy screws up.
When you realize how little % the nerves actually make, it makes you less nervous.
A sub-10 solver could turn the cube IN SLOW MOTION and still beat the sub-15 solver.
