For me that can take from a few seconds to a very long time. It took me 28 years to solve a 3x3 cube but only 3 minutes to solve a 1x3x3 floppy cube and a second or so to solve a 1x1x1 cube.

Achived sub 30 after 7 months of cubing! yay! on to learn OLL once school is over.

I've told my story here about being given a 3x3 cube back in 1981 and being asked to solve it but I could not. My only mistake was confusing D for D'. I used the book I was given in 1981 to solve the 3x3 in 2009.

I've since solved all cubes from 1x1x1 to 7x7x7.

about a week to learn the rest of the PLLs.
2 months to get sub-31 sec avg.
about 1 1/2 months to get my first sub-20 single. (i was hyper, beating PB over and over again)
