This is embarrassing, but my LL is terribly long (probably why I can't get sub 20's.) Anyway, here is a rough breakdown:

2 look OLL: 4 seconds
1 sometines 2 look PLL: 4.5 seconds
total: 8.5 seconds(sob)

For me, 1-look PLL: 5 seconds:fp

Christ, what am I doing wrong... I just did 5 solves watching the timer as I went -- cross+F2L finished at 28.xx-30.xx every time, average for the five solves = 42.73. That's with 2-look OLL and almost full PLL (haven't learned either N yet). Should I focus on alg execution or go back to working on F2L lookahead? A 14 second LL seems to be the biggest negative in my times.

No you should work on F2L also it is more fundamental.

For me just take the pros' OLL and PLL, multiply by 2x or 3x that is roughly my time :fp.

Total avg: ~25
If I get a quick OLL, then a PLL that is not an N, lefty R, Z, then I'm around 21 seconds.

After a great F2L, you are anxious to break record and end up being more stressful and make mistakes.
After terrible F2L, you give up hope and are more relaxed and end up completing the LL faster .

Fast PLL's (A, H, U, Z, J, T, Y, R, V, easy G perms): 1.5-2.5 seconds
Slow PLL's (E, N, F, tough G perms): 3-4 seconds..

my average is about 5-6 seconds (with 3LLL) because of my slow recognization
