How long after you learned F2L did your times start to decrease?

I already know intuitive F2L pretty well, and I'm wondering if I should learn a few cases.

Just because I was curious, I timed myself doing F2L (minus the cross):
[x] 28.50
[x] 29.37
[x] 32.86
[x] 23.78
[x] 28.74
[x] 29.95

I average just under a minute on the full 3x3x3. I'm wondering whether I should learn PLL or some F2L cases. Can anyone shed some insight?

I taught myself f2l right after i started
[i thought i invented it, i didn't know everyone did it, lol]
so my times decreased with the next few solves. haha, i was at like 1:30 when i started messing with f2l, and i got around 60 by the end of the day :)

My Beginner's Method LL is horrible - it can take upwards of 20-40 seconds, dependent upon how many corners you have to solve...
I found it MUCH easier to learn the finger tricks and 2-look OLL and PLL since it made sense to me... (and I'm pretty stupid in the real world, especially school)

I'm currently learning full PLL -- 10/21 done (7 OLL cases for 2-look OLL, not hard)...

Search up Badmephisto for tutorials on that
But to answer the question (I might have already, on this thread...) it took a WHILE before my intuitive F2L went down, I notice this a problem for people when switching from a beginner's method to F2L since they don't understand how to coordinate corners and utilize the cross on bottom "extension" (and these are kids in my school averaging 1:15 with beginners!!!).
