how do you tell the difference between the two A perms?

yeah, you could, i guess.but i dont know my colour scheme inside out and right side up. so if i hold yellow on top and green front, and the unsolved edge is orange, it would go to the right so it would be clockwise and vise versa. but i dont know which colour is to the right of green so i would have to check. on the other hand, i know all the opposite colours. (R-O G-B Y-W)

Mm, so maybe it would take less time to find the opposite colour than to figure out which side the FU sticker is going to.

ok thanks. but im not sure if this new question is off topic or not, because its regarding the A perm. when you have no sides with two of the same colour (after OLL) do you use A perm two times or E perm? because im still using a little bit of beginner method, and RobH0621 says to use A perm twice but badmephisto says to use E perm.

It solves both ways, so do whichever way you're comfortable with. I started off with learning the A perm and can do it relatively fast, while I haven't practiced E at all and it takes ages to execute. Practice is all it takes.

And I suggest learning a few of the no-headlights PLL's like Y and V once you've got the initial 2-look algorithms memo'd. Don't try the N-perms too early though since they'll come up very rarely.

E perm. I never do any perm twice.

I look for a 2x2x1 block, and I place it in the top left corner.

If there are 2 non matching corners in the F face, then it is the clockwise perm

If there are 2 matching corners in the f face, then it is the counterclockwise perm.

Just practice, you'll get it eventually. There's no fast way to becoming fast (literally)

+1 :)

Have a nice break, see you next February!

Yes I should try this too. I have been comparing the RU color with the FL and FR colors which is less direct.

E-Perm feels great and is very fast...

On a side note, may I ask which algorithm you use for E? I have real trouble with it

I use similar to what Sarah and some others use, because it feels most "RU":

R2 U R' U' y (R U R' U')*2 R U R' y' R U' R2

It's also in wiki though I use R2 in the end. I do it more like:

R2 U R' d' (R U R' U')*2 R U R' y' R U' R2

I must have done something weird, I ended up doing some really awesome four cycle of corners for ULF<-> DLF and DRB <-> ULB

Edit: Its a double corner switch, not a 4 cycle xD You can't 4-cycle corners:fp

Btw, I did it by switching the rotations around, y' at the beginning at y at the end

DAMN! I'm an idiot.. I described U perm..

But A I recognize so that I take the corner that is in the opposite position in the UFR place (or in UFL if the block is in the other way)..

And yes I use the mirrored A perm too.
