How do I get back into cubing

Find something else to do, then when you're bored of your new hobby, you can always come back to cubing!

You don't need to buy new cubes. You can get a Little Magic for $5 and magnetize it for $2. If that's not good enough, there are ways to earn money online. Ask you parents to setup a Microsoft Rewards account for you and do searches on Bing.com. You can earn a $5 Amazon gift card, or sometimes a $5 Paypal, for very little effort, every couple weeks. It's not much but it beats nothing. And there are ways to earn more.

As for motivation, that has to come from within. So you know full PLL and OLL. Great. Do you know Roux? Petrus? Something else? How about other puzzles? Non-WCA puzzles? Modding?

As for Youtube - if you don't have ideas for videos, don't make them. Or make videos just to improve your technique and quality. Do reviews of cubes you already have. Do tutorials. Whatever. So you're not doing reviews of the newest cubes - no problem. Make other videos and use them as a learning experience instead.

I honestly have no tips but I just wanna say that waiting 3 months for a comp is nothing.

My intervals have been 5 months, 14 months, and 4 months (haven’t been to a lot)

Have patience.

Last, competitions. Whenever someone gets demotivated for cubing, other people just say to go to a comp or two. But that's the thing. My parents only let me go to comps that are between 1 - 2 hours away. So i can really only go to comps in Wisconsin and Illinois (where i live). But there are barely any comps over by where i am. It's been 3 months since there has been a comp i could go to.
3 months oh poor you.

Of the almost 6 years I’ve been cubing, I’ve been to 8 competitions and there has only ever been 3 in my state, the nearest comp not in my state was a 11 hr drive.

And there are people much more unfortunate than this

First off: "mostly unknown state"? Illinois? For most of your life the president of the United States was from Illinois. Arguably the most famous president other than George Washington was from Illinois (Lincoln). Wisconsin is obviously the best state, but you want to know a cool presidential trivia fact about Wisconsin? It's the only state to give its electoral votes to a candidate endorsed by the Socialist party (La Follette, 1924). That's it. We've never had a president from Wisconsin, I don't think we've even had a vice president. Chicago is the 3rd largest city in the US, and it's in Illinois. You don't live in an unknown state. I even know people from Iowa who are proud to live there. Heck, there are even proud Kansans. Your state is cool for a lot of reasons, but mostly because it's your state. Be proud of it. The same for your town. It doesn't need to be the center of the universe to be pretty awesome. You don't need a lot of people to make a little money, you just need one person who's willing to pay you to clean their house, or mow their lawn, or shovel their driveway, or whatever. If you're willing to work hard you can get money. Maybe not a lot, but cubes aren't that expensive, you don't need a lot.

More importantly: cubing. The question you need to ask yourself is "is cubing an inherent good?" Which is to say, "is cubing good for its own sake, or do you just cube to have fun?" For me the answer is unequivocally that cubing is secondary: I cube because it's fun. If it stops being fun, I'll stop cubing. There are things that I believe are inherently good and important, like memorizing scripture, spending time with my family, and going to church that I will do whether they're fun or not. Cubing is definitely not one of those things. If you're having fun, keep doing it. If you're not, there's nothing wrong with taking some time off. You could try other puzzles, or blind solving, but there are plenty of other hobbies that you could get into as well.

Come to Independence Cube Day! It's pretty close. Or wait for Wiscube to happen hopefully later this year. Or a Dixon Comp. You hopefully will have a few comps to go to in the next few months.
