How can I get faster?

Just my opinion, but there are about 1000 other things you could do that would make a bigger difference to your times than trying to be color neutral.

Get a zhanchi from shop.scmu.in
Or maybe you could recommend a few different cubes to choose from instead of saying a Zhanchi :P

I would recommend a Zhanchi, Fangshi (ShuangRen), MoYu (Huanying) and any type of Guhong (v2 if you don't like pops :P I have a v2). I have all of those and they're all pretty good. I also heard that any Lingyun is good but kind of uncontrollable. Look around for reviews.

Although colour neautrality won't improve your times that much in the long run, if you want to learn it, learn it NOW! Most people learn it just because they think it's cool.

This, combined with using your resources (wiki, youtube, past posts, etc) properly.

You can get pretty good with a well groomed Rubik's brand, but I'd recommend "upgrading" to a "speedcube" soon. You don't have to jump on the latest hype. I personally stick to Ghost-hands and Guhongs. Anything that allows you to unlock your potential is gravy. Find out what you like. It'll take a while and bit of investment.
I'd say lurk more, but there doesn't seem to be much to lurk on these days ;__:

These are all great cubes, but I might also recommend getting an "intermediate" cube as well.

When I first got off the Rubik's Brand Band Wagon (say that 5 times fast [video contest?]), the first speedcube I got was a stickerless Zanchi... and I just could NOT control it. It would just get away from me if I tried to move at all quickly.

About a month later, I received another Zanchi and a Lunhui as a Christmas gift from my dad. The Lunhui was slower, but way more stable to my untrained hands, and therefore far more controllable. And it was my main for about 5 months while I was still learning Fridrich.

It was only after I could regularly get sub 20 times that I decided to get used to the Zanchi. But in the meantime, a Lunhui, Shengshou 3x3's, etc, they'll be easier to control until you get used to being faster.

Also? If you're not already using silicon lubricant in your cubes, it's time to start. It's going to change your entire world.

I've been cubing for 5 months. I learned on my brother's zhanchi and lingyun, and a zhanchi has been my main the whole time. I know some people recommend intermediate cubes, but I see it as an unnecessary step that requires one to become accustomed to another better cube only after spending lots of time getting used to a worse one. I've had lots of different models of 3x3, but even in the early days, I never felt like I needed a slower cube. I'm sure everyone's experience is different, but that's just my personal experience and opinion.

Absolutely... different people are going to need to take different steps. But I've heard the suggestion of taking that "middle step" of getting an intermediate cube many times, especially in cases where the cuber is coming off of a Rubik's Brand cube. I just hadn't seen that suggestion in this thread yet.

"Practice" is good advice but it needs to be translated.

Try doing 300 solves per day for two months. Intuitive F2L and sloppy 2-look OLL, 2-look PLL (or worse than 2-look, like me).

Before the first week you'll be seeing patterns in the cube you never imagined you would see.

I know that this advice seems cliche, but hear me out.

Go slow and look ahead!

F2L is perhaps the most difficult part of Fridrich. Lookahead is crucial to speed. My Cross + F2L speed is currently about 13-14 seconds, and my lookahead still needs lots of work. Also, a better cube WILL help. I was about 33-34 seconds on my Rubiks brand, and as soon as I got my first speedcube, my time dropped by five seconds. Other than that, keep practicing and you will improve.
