Just to add some actual statistics to the LL discussion, I did 3 LL averages of 12. The first average I am using full OLL and PLL. On the second average I am going to do 4LLL. On the third average I am going to do FsexyF' EO, Sune CO, then use a J-perm for CP and a cw U-perm for EP.
First average (2LLL): 7.83 ao12, 7.78 mo12
6.31, 8.13, 8.53, 9.25, 8.62, 9.21, 6.31, 9.14, 10.86, 7.07, 5.76, 4.19+
Second average (4LLL - EO, CO, J/Y perm, Ua/Ub/Z/H perm): 11.56 ao12, 11.63 mo12
12.71, 12.97, 7.75, 9.51, 8.80, 10.24, 12.43, 12.65, 16.20, 11.96, 13.80, 10.56
Third average (fruruf, sune, j-perm, [cw or ccw] u-perm): 15.79 ao12, 15.82 mo12
10.69, 11.28, 20.52, 21.27, 19.38, 11.08, 13.47, 20.75, 16.06, 13.97, 15.35, 15.99
The differences between each is just 4 seconds. Is 4 seconds a decent amount of time to shave off? Yes. But when you're discussing averages of >40 seconds, it's not that much time. F2L is much more important.
