Hi, I am JTWong71 from the East Coast of the US and at the younger age group.
I have been speedcubing for about a month now and I average around 20-22 seconds, with a PB of 14.82.
I am currently working on my lookahead hoping to get my average to sub 20.

What kind of block-building do you use?

When I have a scramble, I will try to find an east CE pair, and some other pieces to possibly make a 2x2x3.
I am still working on getting better with block building due to it requiring more thinking than the standard CFOP approach.
Block building is pretty much a substitute for me to try to reduce moves when I am normally solving, other times when
I am not timing myself I will block build the entire F2L, except maybe the last CE pair.

I think it may be good for you if you look into Roux, ZZ and Petrus cause you may be quite good at those if you do a lot of blockbuilding.

I have tried doing those methods, I am debating whether or not if I want to switch to the ZZ method.
With, Petrus, I don't see it being easy to tell how many bad edges there are and where quickly enough in a speed solve.
