So, I guess, hi to you all! Feels a bit weird addressing so many cubers at simultaneously... Here in Malta where I'm from, I feel like its a basement kind of hobby reserved to the so called "nerds" in this quite primitive and excuse the word "troglodyte" country. Nevertheless, let me introduce myself:

I am Giorgio Grigolo (might remind you of Giorgio Armani or Giorgio Chiellini but no, way too many Gs, and NO I don't like G perms either) 16 year old human living on an island in the middle of absolute f________ nowhere. Apart from cubing, my hobbies include music, guitar playing, video-gaming (I mostly play the competitive FPS genre), board/tabletop gaming (ie. DnD and MTG) amongst others.

I currently solve on a Qiyi Warrior W Jelly cube, self-made lubricated. (I have a GAN 356X on the way from the web, China if you were wondering how i could afford that 37eur cube, should arrive in a week or so yeah, not the best situation right now) and my PB is of 1m 8s using CFOP although F2L is intuitive, OLL is 2look and PLL I'm learning advanced I'm at EDIT: 16/21 algs. Bear in mind I've started cubing for not even a month now and I'm pretty proud with how far I've got although absolutely not completely satisfied.

I found out the first WCA competition is going to be held in Malta this November and I'm aiming to strive to get there with at least full CFOP covered maybe not competing but attending just to see, people and the atmosphere, come on would you miss your first national comp ever??!?!

I have a Warrior W Jelly as well! It's really good as long as you have optimal light.

If by optimal light you mean the strength of your turns, yes you're right it's super smooth at the slight push which makes it really good for slow, but fluid solves. Only drawback is I WANT to turn faster but the lockups and corner twists are unreal on that one...

I meant the actual light in the room lol, I find the colours are not very vivd.
When I got mine I had to play with the tension a little bit in order to make it stop locking up, no corner twists for me yet.

Oh my goodness! You are right in either case: it does need optimal light! Had a hard time recognizing blue and green in badly illuminated rooms... Regarding tensions I followed many guides, I like how loose my cube is but I feel that in itself it's limiting.

Firstly good luck in your competition. Secondly I recently went to my first competition and want to give some tips. Make sure that you try out all of the equipment before the competition starts. Also keep your hands warm because it is hard to solve well with cold hands. If possible try and go with a friend because that makes it a lot funnier and you will feel more comfortable. Still try and make new friends. Practice your cross and f2l to get your times down. Try practicing 15 second inspection for cross. Try not to learn anything new 1 week before the competition. Try and find some algs you are comfortable with so that you can drill them while you are getting ready for your solve (remember when you sit down you can wait up to a minute before starting your solve). Also most importantly have fun. Good luck

I don't believe he is planning on competing at this point.
I agree with not learning anything new a week before. I am currently transitioning from beginners to cfop and when I try to solve F2L it takes me FOREVER to pair! I can get 1:10s and 1:20s with beginners but when I try to do F2L my times are always 2 mins +

OH, I guess it's too late now... I've registered! I can get consistent sub 1 min with CFOP with just weeks of practice. I believe that if I strive enough I can get sub 30 within the competition. Even if I don't it will still be a wonderful experience

Hey man! Thanks for the tips... They're greatly appreciated. I was already planning on dragging one of my friends along just to see other people solve it in sub 10 <.< I already do the 15 sec inspection practice drill and im currently practicing memorization of PLL for now (R perms and N perms to be exact) after those I'll do G perms and I'll move on to a more advanced f2l than the one I know

OH, I guess it's too late now... I've registered! I can get consistent sub 1 min with CFOP with just weeks of practice. I believe that if I strive enough I can get sub 30 within the competition. Even if I don't it will still be a wonderful experience

Awesome! With a competitor limit of 60, and over 10 competitors already from another country, and only 2 competitors ever from Malta prior to this competition, I guess you're guaranteed to be in the top 50 competitors all-time from Malta, if you just get a successful solve!
