hey, wassup. im been cubing for 6 months now, and my average is around 40 seconds using intuitive f2l, 2 look oll and full pll. i find oll's hard to recognize for some reason and i have not learned any full oll algs yet. so, um, yeah, im new to speedsolving. i own a dissasembled eastsheen 3x3, 4x4, and 5x5 i want to learn how to reassemble. i also own an eastsheen 2x2, three lubed rubiks storeboughts which is good enough for an beginner/intermediate cuber like me. i do want to start looking at guhong or AV tho. for 4x4, i own 2 rubiks brand cubes (dont bother telling me rubiks brand sucks, i know now never to buy a store cube again lol) and then i also own a rubiks 5x5. i can solve them all, 4x4 about 5 min, 5x5 about 10. i use centers, edges, then 3x3 with parity for both cubes, i memorized all parity algs. i also own a rubiks slide. im 13 and, well, my big goal is to go to a competition. ill see you around the forums, everyone!!!

If your average for the 3x3 is 40 seconds with full PLL, i would consider practising F2L much more, aswell as making the cross as smooth as possible, with a bit of tranisition from cross to F2l pratice, and that will really bring your times down. Full PLL is very useful, but a quick F2L is invaluble. I only know 14 PLL algs and 2 look OLL, but I average around 25 seconds because my cross and F2L have been practiced and made smoother, which is where most of the time comes off. It also good to know finger tricks and pratice the algs you do know for good measure :)

i am very weak in the cross (8-10 seconds) and f2l (5 seconds per pair) i want to how to improve that part. i think my last layer is alot better besides oll, so how should i practice f2l?

to practice f2l, just practice. the keys to it are lookahead and also if you need to, look at algorithms for the cases. Turn slow at first and just find a pair and while inserting, then look for the next. there are a lot of different threads about that here.

Also, you should be able to plan the cross during inspection or at least have a good feel for where all of the pieces are and need to go.

Welcome to the forums! When it comes to getting faster with the cross and f2l there really is not secret that will make your times drop dramatically. I do recommend doing practice solves where you turn very slowly and smoothly (such as with practicing a song on an instrument by slowing down the tempo). This helped me a lot, especially with f2l.
