Hi,

I got introduced to cubing when a friend brought a 5x5x5 to school. I thought it was insane that he could solve it. Then I picked up a cube I knew i had lying around my house that was unsolved. I learned LBL using Joel's website, and from there on, I learned more advanced techniques such as keyhole and 4LLL.

Now I'm using Fridrich method with intuitive F2L, full OLL and full PLL. With this combination, I currently average around 23.

I live in Perth, WA. I dunno how many cubers there are around in this area, but I don't believe there are any competitions. Hopefully this will pick up and there will eventually be meets / competitions.

Cubes:

2x2x2
Haven't really picked this up. Using Fridrich method.
Best Time - 8.XX
Average - 15.xx

3x3x3
Using full Fridrich, mainly concentrating on this
Best time - 13.56 Lucky , 16.60 Full Step
Average of 12 - 20.78, Average of 5 - 19.50
Real Average - Sub-23

One-handed - Average around 55, Single - 35.XX
Blindfolded - Best time is 5:10
4x4x4
Reduction + Fridrich - Two dedges at a time
Best Time - 1:40
Average - Around 2:20

5x5x5
Reduction + Fridrich
Best Time - Around 7 mins
Average - Haven't done it too much, haven't done average

At the moment for me, it is holidays so i have a couple of goals I'm aiming to achieve (Over two and a half months):

- Average Sub 17 with 3x3x3
- Learn Ortega and get sub 10's
- Average Sub 1:30 with 4x4x4
- Average Sub 5:00 with 5x5x5

if you have full fridrich, all you will need to work on is execution & recognition of LL, and f2l lookahead and execution to get to 17s or less.
ortega is ridiculously easy. 3 algs, one of which is R2 F2 R2. i think Eriks old site has a very good tutorial on ortega and other methods. you could learn in 10 mins, and probably be sub 10 this evening.
i find going fast (sub 1:50/45) on 4x4 pretty difficult. work on a consistent edge pairing method. i quite like syuheis 3-6-3 method. i think emersonhermann made a good video describing exactly what i mean.
again, i think with a decent tredge pairing method sub 5:00 is well within your grasp, but im no expect by ANY means, so search around.
