I don't really know how the site works, but i guess i should start
off by telling you a little bit about me.I started speedcubing
about six months ago so im still new to the idea. My best average
for the 3x3 is 47.66 and my best single is 33.96. I just got a 5x5
last month and i can consistently solve it but not very fast. Any tips
from experienced cubers?

Roux? never heard of it. does it involve block building like in Petrus or possibly paring edges and corners like in Fridrich? Can you get as fast at Roux as the Fridrich method? Preferably sub 20 once good.

roux is capable of sub-10 avgs.
it's a block building method, but the last steps are done on the U and M layers of the cube.

I am a roux user and I'm averaging around mid 13s

Get a (Maru or YJ) 4x4x4. It'll help you with 5x5.

those are good cubes, but very frustrating to a beginner (at least the yj is, with internal problems and such, and if the maru pops...) I would recommend the qj 4x4, so that you can experience breaking a cube in and seeing it get better, and then switch it up to either of those.

That is just my opinion though. Oh, and welcome!

and I like the ZZ Method..http://www.speedsolving.com/wiki/index.php/ZZ, its kinda hard to get used to but has so many variations and stuff you can use to make it more efficient than fridrich
