Hello,

I'm John from the North Bay Area California. My Grand Niece asked me to help her solve a cube recently. I know other children who would like to learn too. I've magnetized some Yuxin Little Magic cubes for them. I think they are an excellent beginner cube.

My sons had Rubik's cubes back in the 80's. I played with their cubes some but couldn't solve them. I can solve now! This forum appears to be a great source of information about cubes and cubing. Thanks!

John

Thanks for your responses.
Yeah, I guess I'm dating myself by doing a cube in the 80's. There might be an old 80's cube around here somewhere. Likely half the stickers would be missing though. I get stickerless cubes for the kids these days.

I live in the Napa Valley. it's real nice this time of year. The grape harvest makes for some great times.

I have both of my Rubik's Cubes from 1981. Both look very similar - Japanese color scheme, the stickers are rather chipped, and both cubes rattle when you shake them because the pieces are so loose. :-) In that condition, definitely not collector's items, but they certainly have sentimental value to me.

Yeah, but do you still have it?

I have my second one not my first. The first one (an original Rubik's) disappeared in a move. The second one, a Rubik's Deluxe, sits proudly in my collection to this day.

Don’t think so. After many years of being played with and taken apart I think I finally admitted defeat and thought I’d never learn how to solve it.

No idea where it went!
