I've been cubing for 5 days now and my best time is 1 minute 59 seconds with an average of 2 minutes 39 seconds but i'm using the solution that comes with the cube. I've been reading about the F2L method, but am completely confused about what the diagrams mean. Is there anywhere you recomend to learn this method in a clear manner, or any other methods you would recomend instead?

Which reference are you trying to learn from? What in particular are you confused about? Do you understand cube notation? Do you understand how to hold the cube? Do you understand how to recognize the cases and what the algorithm is supposed to accomplish?

At your level learning F2L algorithms is completely unnecessary. It is possible to get down to a minute on average (or faster) using just the beginner method. Focus on reducing your recognition time during your solve, and learn a few LL algorithms for a 4 look last layer.

Thanks, I've just been confused on recognizing the situation for which one to use, I cant remember the sites but i think i'm just going to try to stick with what I know then till I'm sub 1 and I'll take a look at the LL thanks again

Somebody clearly hasn't read the forum rules. All your questions have been answered before, try searching. Oh and learn how to spell.

its algorithims and plus dont learn the f2l algorithims. If you go to youtube.com and you type in badmephisto he has some great videos. Watch his video on INTUITIVE f2l. This is doing the f2l with no algorithims whatsoever its all using your brain and its actually very simple. For the LL you can start learning methods like 2 look OLL and PLL(badmephisto has good videos on this) after learning intuitive f2l.

Thanks everyone for the help. I am new to this and when you say the word aloud, algorithim sounds as if it has an "a" after the "g", I was spelling it phonetically, this is directed to Dene, I was not trying to give you an exigence to argue, I was simply asking a question to the best of my knowledge. Also if you type in anything into the search engine with the word algorithm it ignores everything else and brings up many links that digress from the topic entirely. Maybe you should have searched for it, because thats what the rules say to do. To everyone else, Thank You very much for the help.
