I just started clock. I've been following a set pin order and have been grinding. I'm about like 25 seconds now which is pretty bad lmao. Just wanted to know if it's normal to not be improving at the start while grinding clock. Also if you have any other tips for sub 10 on clock I would really appreciate it. Thanks.

Getting a qiyi will drop your time by 5+ seconds.
Get a quality pin order, (one move with the bottom dial max)
Took me 300-500 solves for my first sub-10 single. So keep practicing!
Consider setting it up, costed me $10, but depends on what you currently have on hand.

Yeah I have a qiyi clock, I'm gonna try smearing weight 5 on the clock face. Also yeah, my pin order has only one bottom dial move. So it seems like practice is rly important to improve right? Lookahead as well? Should I be working on it? Also what should I be doing during inspection? Are there any other important tips? As of now I can solve with the 12 dial on any side (facing 3. 6 or 9). I've also been doing things like searching for skips.

Practice is VERY Important. That's the difference between Sub-15 and Sub-5. Lookahead will come with practice. In inspection, plan as much as you can. You can solve on any side and you have been searching for skips which are very important for improving as well. I would say practice and you will be Sub-10 very quickly.

thanks a lot for the support and help ma g.

Hey, just wanted to ask, do you know if this is a safe mod?
I'm tempted to do it but I also know clocks are often rly delicate so i wanna be careful with my qiyi since it's expensive.

Using tape instead of the screws/nuts? Yes, it's safe, lot of people do it.

As for where to lube, this video shows exactly what part of the face the dials ride on and where the lube should go.
Watch the whole video, but @ 00:30 he shows where you need to lube and why.

He also has 2 good tutorial videos you should watch
here and here
and get the pdf file linked in each video description.

omg thank you so much! This really helps, im gonna do it right away :)

Just finished lubing my clock, I used weight 5 instead. The clock feels slightly gunmmy but in a good way rn. It feels significantly less clicky though, idk if this is due to the tape mod, Does this issue get better with break in?

I used weight 5 and hated it at first. I did 5 solves on it and it was better, and after 20 or so solves it feels great. So breaking it in will help.
Yeah! I've done about 25 solves now and it's pretty good, not as good as I want it to be but I think breaking it in more will really help make it faster and more clicky.
