Hello, I am new to cubing, I do not have a cube yet( I mooch off my friend XD) I am getting it in a few days. I have been solving for about a week, using the cross method, and my average time is 3 minutes. I am currently trying to learn the Fridrich and Petrus methods.
I am wondering, does anyone know of good cube software for the Mac? I know about gabbasoft(This isn't my first time with cubes, just my first time actually trying to solve them :))
I am running on the iBook G4 ppc.

Hello, welcome to the forums! You might want to stick with one method first, don't try learning Fridrich and Petrus at the same time, choose one, and stick with it. I personally suggest Fridrich, as its what the majority of people use, but Petrus is good too.

Cube software for Mac, iBook G4 ppc, CCT is not an option, it doesn't work on ppc, but JNetCube is good, it works on Mac, and a lot of cube timers are online, for example, CubeTimer.com is really good.

Okay, thanks. I hear that the fridrich requires much memorization, What about the Petrus?
I don't mean a timer,I mean virtual cube software for 4x4x4+

Virtual cube software, hi-games.net has up to 10x10x10. Fridrich yes, requires much more memorization for full Fridrich, but requires knowledge of only 13 algorithms for a 4-Look LL. cubefreak.net has some good Fridrich tutorials, and how to build up from a beginner method to full Fridrich.

Okay, thank you. I also hear that it only takes a couple nights to memorize, Myth or Fact :)?

Hm, it could be either. Depends on how much time you put into it, and how good you are at memorizing algorithms. For me, all the algs took me about a week for 4-Look LL.

Welcome!
How is this person to know which one to pick without first learning them to see which one they like and sticking with that one?
If you already know how to solve the cube I don't see a problem with learning more. Looking into Petrus and Fridrich could be helpful. Most people do use Fridrich yes, but that doesn't mean that Petrus is a bad method, it just means that when new people come to forums they hear "use fridrich itz pwnz" and so then we all learn Fridrich because that is what we are told to do.
Anyway sorry for my little rant. Welcome to the forum and happy cubing! You'll do fine picking either method but if you just learned and don't even have your own cube yet yo may want to stick to the method you have now for a little while till you get the hang of it a little more.

yah.. :) and,
use fridrich itz pwnz
HAHAH! I guess you use a different method? Well, right now, I am using a widget I have on my dashboard, It takes a bit longer but it's better then nothing. Oh, by the way guys, I make sigs so if you have any requests...

Wow. I got my cube just about an hour ago a go and broke it in with a couple solves. I took my average using cubetimer.com for two solves, and it's 2.57.19. I'm going to do a few more with it, and then put it in my sig.
