Hello Guys

I am Cris738, a relatively new cuber. I actually started a month ago, after buying my first cube. Other thing I do are Gaming, Basketball and Tennis. I use badmephistos beginner method of solving a standard 3x3. My pb is 53 seconds with an average of 5 being 1:11 and 1:09 for WCA Average

Introductions aside, I have a question. I am at the stage which I want to choose a speedsolving method. However, I am tossed up between ZZ and Cfop. Of the two, which will be better for a beginner?

That should conclude my introduction and I hope to get better at speedcubing :)

Welcome! It's good to see people start learning ZZ as early on as you are :) Whilst CFOP may be easier for a beginner to understand, if you like ZZ then you should switch to it as early as possible. There are fewer algorithms to learn for ZZ, but the first step is hard for some people... if you can understand that, then you should be fine with ZZ. I would recommend it over CFOP, but mostly because I personally find CFOP boring; I can't say one is faster than the other for two-handed solving. ZZ is faster for one-handed though, so that's another advantage of it.

Actually, which is an easier transtion, ZZ to Cfop or Cfop to ZZ

I've never heard of anyone switching from ZZ to CFOP. Most people start using CFOP and either stay or switch from there; I know of one person who has started with Roux but other than that almost everyone uses a basic form of CFOP at first. I can't say how easy it'd be to switch from ZZ to CFOP (but why would you want to?). Seriously though, I would imagine after you can do ZZ, CFOP would not be too hard at all. Crosses are easier than EOLines, F2L is largely the same as ZZ but with two pieces already solved (edges with different orientations and rotating will be new to you though, and they are both disadvantages to CFOP), and the last layer can be done with three looks very similarly to ZZ (usually 6 moves then a ZZ last layer case). Switching from CFOP to ZZ is much harder, but if you start using ZZ earlier on then ZZ won't be hard for you at all after the start.

Honestly, for a beginner, I would say stick with CFOP for the moment, and learn F2L. The reason why I say this is there are more resources for CFOP for beginners then there is for ZZ. But if you like ZZ more, switch to it after you get a little faster and start figuring things out on your own.

Welcome to the forums! We are all very friendly here! (For the most part)

No, don't learn CFOP just because it's easier. Learn what you want to learn, both if you want to. Just don't learn a method for the wrong reasons.

Thanks for the replies. I've made my choice to learn ZZ, then switch to Cfop and use either interchangebly.
