Hey, I'm Jake, or Blurry or Blurred as nickname, (LONG story there)
I'm from the UK and I've recently began cubing, I came across various videos from competitions and meets and became inspired to learn.
Right now my solving is horrible and slow, but I hope to soon be <1minute.

The forums seem to be a brilliant learning ground to progress and I hope I'll be here for the long haul.
I enjoying Cycling and Programming in my spare time and fitting cubing in is a definite.

But yes. Any questions I'll answer happily.
Jake.

Welcome! There should be a few UK comps this year (at least three from what I've heard, four including the one yesterday). You can see what's coming up here; there's also stuff on the UKCA and WCA websites. Remember you can compete however fast you are, so don't be put off by not being sub-20 or something. Where in the UK are you from?

I'm in Worcestershire, I'm looking forward to comps, not necessarily to compete, just for the general motivation.

Hello there, I am also fairly new, and from the UK (Harlow, Essex). My times are quite slow too, but I use my own method which is probably far more inefficient that the popular ones. Still, speed isn't everything. My main aim for joining this forum is that I am hoping to find some local event one day and meet fellow enthusiasts. I don't think I have ever met anyone who has an interest in cubing.

This is somewhat off-subject but I want to emphasise how good it is to meet up with like minded people. I have have enjoyed origami as a hobby for over 40 years, but for the first 20 years, I never really met anybody else who was into origami in a big way. I eventually joined the British Origami Society and my first experience as a member was going to a convention where there were around 100 fellow paper-folders. It made a huge impression on me and gave a whole new aspect to my hobby.

I would say my main language is Objective C and JavaScript, Python isn't a big use when it comes to Apps and Game Development anymore.
Welcome! I'm learning Objective C at the moment as well, but Python is still my main. It's such an amazing language, if you ever want to try something small, like some Project Euler's, Python is great for that.

I would say Python is the best language at the moment, especially when it comes to Rasperry Pi's etc, but I feel it will soon run out of modern day application.

Wow. Your avatars from Happy Tree Friends, the memories..
