I have been cubing for about three months and have almost taught half my class how to solve the rubik's cube by now.
I mostly solve the 3x3 and 2x2 but I also enjoy solving the megaminx.
My personal best is 46 seconds and I average at around 1:10 minutes. I enjoy trying out different algorithms and am interested in different methods to solve the cube. I know a few OLL and PLL cases but I mostly use the beginner's method and intuitive F2L at the moment.

Welcome to the forums! :)

If you're interested in methods, I would recommend starting off with looking at ZZ, Roux, CFOP, Petrus, Thistlethwaite and Heise then look at the stuff in my sig :)

Welcome to the forums!
Have you been to a comp yet? Comps are awesome. There's one in Hamburg next month!
No I haven't. I am going to try to go to one soon though. My only concern is that I might be too slow?

I went to my first comp not knowing what comps exactly are and I also felt too slow. It was the best decision ever. I think visiting comps (and especially the first one) was a huge motivating factor. It's also about talking to other cubers and I can promise you everyone is welcome at comps no matter the times. :)
