Hey guys, Ive been posting the last few weeks yet never formally introduced myself...so here it goes. My name is Brian Watkins, i am 19 and attend the Colorado School of Mines as a sophomore. I have been 3x3x3 cubing since 2nd semester of last year. I currently own "2,3,4,5,7" cubes. I am now averaging about 45 sec, and have been learning Fridrich F2L for about a month. I have played guitar since i was 10 and piano since 6. I love collecting old Vinyl LP's from the 60's-70's yet i also love all forms of music, a great metal riff never gets old...Chimaira is amazing! I run XC and love playing hockey, although im getting horribly out of shape lately.

Well sorry if that was too long, i look forward to meeting you guys and cant wait to learn from those more experienced than me.

Hasta Luego,
BRIAN

Hi Brian,

Our esteemed administrator, pjk, also goes to Mines. I'm sure you'll want to come to the Boulder Open in September, too. Don't worry about your average, I was about the same at my first comp and placed better than about 1/3 of the attendees.

Good to have you, welcome.

e.

Hey, another Coloradan! Welcome! You should come to some of the local competitions! Boulder is shaping up to be September 18-19.

Boulder in September huh? Sounds like fun, I'd definitely be interested, if nothing else just to get to know some other Colorado Cubers

Not many? Three this year, plus, you're going to Nat'ls. How many do you need?

You need a job is what you need, keep you busy.

Edit: I almost forgot... Hippie. ;)

Nice to have another Colorado cuber here. What a small world; people from Mines now joining the forum ;). I was thinking about creating a club there last year and the year before, but now that I will be studying abroad for a year, it won't happen for awhile, unless you can get enough interest and do it. You missed out on a competition at Mines (in Berthoud Hall) back in April. I may try doing one again there in 2010/2011.

You say you like hockey, are you referring to ice hockey or roller? I've been playing ice hockey for about 5 years now, 2 years of that for a league in Denver.

Ya it was in Berthod 243 if i remember correctly, i wanted to go watch some solves, but ended having to work instead :(. But i started playing ice when i was 4 but a few years ago i dislocated my knee and hurt the other really bad in a motocross accident, needless to say its really hard for me to play these days, but i still play roller when i can. I had to give up my State XC spot my senior year because of the accident. So are you in "McBride" then, is that why your abroad this year?

Yep, B243. It was the only room on campus I could find that they didn't charge for. And it is a pretty good room for a competition.

Dang, sounds like a serious knee injury. Hopefully you'll be back to full health sometime. At least you can still cube at full health.

No, I'm just doing it for the hell of it. Why not. I'll be able to go to Worlds in October as well, since I will be relatively close to Germany.

Oh, nice. I thought you were leaving for longer. So we get you back eventually.
I'll be back late June/early July 2010. I plan to make it to Nationals next year.

Oh, now I'm jealous. I would cut off my left ring finger to go to Worlds, and I need that for the M slice. And knowing me, you should know how important the M slice is to me.
