Hi everyone, my name is Scot from the USA. I've been speedcubing for almost a year, stalking this forum the whole time. I figured now is a good a time as any to actually start contributing to the discussions!

I began speedcubing in September of last year, and within two months I knew full CFOP and was averaging sub-30. Unfortunately after that I began to improve by only about a second a month, and that begins to make cubing less fun! I recently switched to ZZ to see if that can fix my plateau. Hopefully I can break through my barrier and join you pros out there eventually.

I'm a very avid runner- all-state for track. Also, I can play electric guitar like nobodies business. None of those are quite as fun as cubing, however:) anyway, I'm glad I decided to join the community, hopefully I won't make a fool out of myself!

Thanks for the warm welcomes!

I must say that ZZ is a lot more fun than CFOP even if it's slower, so I'll probably stick with it. It's added bonus that apparently it makes me awesome.

Wrong. I use ZZ too. :) Welcome to the forum! Oh, and I also run! What distances do you do? I'm long distance only.

I meant that hypothetically as we can't really tell if it's faster or not yet. (Although you've proved that it obviously has the potential!) I'm a long-D runner as well, xc in the fall and track in the spring. My favorite distance is the mile but I also regularly run 4x800 and 800.

Yay ZZ!

I definitely don't think ZZ is slower either though I do CFOP. (Just sub-25 with ZZ and also dabbled in Roux.)
I hope you're right, it definitely is a great method. But Roux.. I once attempted Roux, it ended similar to this. (Though with a little more chocolate syrup.)

If you are just starting ZZ, slow-solve a lot and don't worry too much about your times. Also, this and this
Yup in the beginning when my solves were taking twice as long as before, I realized it was probably time to turn off the timer. I learned from asmallkitten, he's inspiring to watch for someone who loves OH!

Cool username!
