Hello, I just joined this community, and I wanted some tips. I am 11 years old, and I average about 50 seconds on 3x3. My PB is 19 seconds (I was awfully lucky) and I just wanted to know what can help me. I have been learning F2L by myself, and I can do it all the time, but they are all intuitive. I hardly know any OLL, all I know is how to make a cross with any edge orientation, but for the corners, I have 2 of my own algorithms that I made, but for every other case, I do the sune algorithm until the side is solved. For PLL, I know full beginner PLL, and I am learning more. The other ones I know are both J perms, 2 G perms, T perm, and all edge only perms. Please suggest what I should learn next. I am ready to have 10 minutes of practice daily.

Thanks, Spacey10

Ok, well finish the 2-look OLLs then maybe start practising more. Do at least about 20 solves a day.

Holy cow!!!!!!! My pb is 20 and I average 35. I suggest practicing a little more time each day, say 25 mins if you can. Also once quarantine is lifted take the cube wherever you go and just drilling solves will take your times down. :) Welcome to the forums!
Thanks I got 2 free F2L pairs, and an OLL skip with a T perm

Welcome to the forums! Learning more OLL and PLL algorithms will certainly help you, but F2L is most likely where you could improve the most. Try checking this out: http://bit.ly/bestf2l (It's from J Perm). You don't need to learn all of them like algorithms, just see which ones are different from what you already do and implement the better ones. Also, you're really not going to get anywhere with 10 minutes of practice a day. At 11 years old during quarantine, I really can't imagine any reason you can't spend at least an hour a day on this. If you'd rather do other things, that's your choice, but if you want to improve at cubing, you need to put in time and effort. Best of luck and happy cubing!

The reason I can only do 10 minutes a day is because of my school assignments. I think I'll have to play around with my schedule and get in at least 30 minutes.

A lot of practise ;). Lots of solves will help, I suggest learning full 4LLL if you haven’t already (know every yellow cross case, one alg yellow corners, E Perm, A Perm, U Perms, H Perm and Z Perm. Search it up if you want), once you’re comfortable with intuitive F2L, start looking up algorithms for any special or hard cases, and make sure most of your solutions are good. Watch videos on cross, try finding all the pieces before you start to solve in inspection, and forming a plan before starting. Oh, and welcome :)

Since this got bumped let’s regroup...@Spacey10 what did you focus on and did your times improve at all over the last few months?
Ah, yes...
Well, firstly I learned beginner OLL, it had a very very refreshing burst of speed, bringing me down to 45 seconds instantly. I started to dig into full PLL, but I realized, my times were not getting any faster, 3 reasons, first was my beginner OLL algorithms were really really bad. For example, my Superman alg was (R U R' U')3 (R' F R F')3. It took me 5 total seconds to recog and execute this alg, so I changed it to another alg, which I currently used, it still isn't the best, but I'm working on changing it again, to the one that used D moves, as I am learning how to get better at them. Second, was my F2L really sucked. I figured it out by myself, no JPerm tutorial, no nothing. I have a youtube video on it, which is my first video, and I'm planning on deleting it because it's really unhelpful. Third, was my cube, my cube was a Rubik's brand, lubed with coconut oil, it was ok, they get ok after a while, but still, it was terrible. Getting an MS pushed my times up to 50 seconds from 40 seconds, but I got used to it, and now I adapted to it. I try turning my Rubik's brand, and wonder how the heck did I speedsolve with this. I am at 35 seconds, and am revisiting some of my algs still, and finding efficient f2l
All in all, everything seems like a cliche, but it's true! All you need to do is have a decent cube, pick good algs, be efficient, and PRACTICE!
