I have been cubing for 4 months now and I decided I should join a cubing community. I always saw links to this site from Google whenever I searched something cube-related like methods and recommendations.

So um, I started cubing because a girl I like at school could solve a 3x3 in a minute and a half. I was so amazed and started learning on a ¢50 cube :D I pushed through on making cubing as one of my main hobbies (and got a better cube ofc. I got a $2 Dian Sheng Type E 222. I think that's what it's called). I can average around 40 seconds now since I recently learned Fridrich F2L. I know complete 2LOLL and PLL & I'm planning to learn COLL but I want to improve my look-ahead skills first because I'm quite slow at recognizing situations. Other than that I have a Fisher's Cube and a really annoying 4x4 that tends to lockup. I don't plan on speedcubing on a 4x4 yet but I can do 5 minutes average using Redux. I hope I can learn a lot of things from this community and become a good speedcuber like you guys. Sorry for the word wall, I just really wanted to introduce myself to you guys.

So erm...

... Hi! :D

Welcome! You definitely want to improve lookahead, and possibly learn some of the really easy OLL cases - over half of them aren't that difficult to learn, and you don't need the other half to be fast: I only know the easy OLL cases and I get sub-17 averages of 50. Unless you switch to ZZ/Roux, don't learn COLL until you've learned full OLL. But COLL is very useful, so definitely learn it at some point.

Thanks for the tips ^_^ I guess I should start learning OLL for now. I'll save COLL for next time then! :)
