Hey folks! I just received my c4y 3x3x5 and I must say that it is a heavy little device. It weighs about as much as my 4x4. I know that a lot of people prefer to have a really light 3x3 for speedcubing, but the more I fiddle around with this 3x3x5 the more I like the weight of it. So my question to you is, are c4y cubes known for being heavy? And what is the heaviest 3x3 on the market?

Thanks everyone.

Ok, well pardon my newb-ness lol, but what exactly is meant by gas assisted? I mean I reallize that it's the type of cube, bu other than weight how is it different from your standard speedcube?

You can always take your favorite speed cube and fill the inner part of the pieces with a suitable material so it gets heavier.

Something that doesn't melt that is...

Don't a lot of online stores show each puzzle's weight in Grams? that would be the quickest way to find out without touching a cube.

I think the V-cube 7 is by far the heaviest Speed Cube... unless you guys are talking only of 3x3's...

Thanks so much for all the quick input everyone (and for being polite in answering my newb question, in this thread and others). After reading this thread and watching a lot of reviews on the c4y gas assisted I think I am going to go ahead and get one. Anyone reading this happen to have one (white or black) that they're looking to get rid of? I'd be willing to pay $10ish shipped for a gently used one.

You can get one at speedcubeshop for just about $14.
