I am using the Guimond tutorial document from this thread: http://www.speedsolving.com/forum/showthread.php?t=5266

I know Ortega, so I understand PBL. I'll try to explain what I'm assuming:

  • Create 3/4 of a face, where the colors can be opposite. (white+yellow, etc)
  • Perform OLL alg to finish second face.
  • Do alg to make the double colored faces two complete faces.
  • Permute Both Layers (like ortega)

Sometimes the OLL alg doesn't work, they always do weird things. >_> Is there a position I need to put the uncompleted cubie of the first face in when I do the OLL? Do I need to put it in different positions depending on the way it is facing?

Sometimes the oriented faces become the right and the left ones.

i can't do rapidshare for some reason, but yes the bottom later has to be in a correct position depending on what the tutorial tells you, on eriks website its the DBL corner.

hope that makes sense

EDIT: okay nevermind it worked this time, yeah the unoriented piece has to be in the DBL corner

[*]Perform OLL alg to finish second face.

Step 1 seeks to orient all the pieces disregarding permutation. However, that's a large substep to learn all the cases. The L-shape done as step 0 is a subset of all the orientation cases, giving only 8 real algs to learn.

They're not OLL algs, because, well, you haven't done a first layer anyway.
