Comp this weekend. Thankfully I'm not nearly as nervous this time as I was last time.

Mains and Goals for Berkeley Winter 2023:
3x3: Sub 7.5 Average (PR), Sub 6 Single (PR)
Cube: Angstrom Gan 12 M Maglev

5x5: Sub 1:10 Average (PR), PR Single
Cube: Aochuang WRM

OH: PR Average, PR Single
Cube: RS3M V5 (I finally did a few OH sessions with this cube, it goated.)

Terrible, didn't even make finals lol

Btw I used the Gan 12 for the first two rounds, but I switched to the RS3M V5 for the last two rounds. It obviously went a lot better, even though the last average was pretty bad, but that was more because of the counting high 9, without that it would have been a pretty decent average.

I have a question. I've never been to a comp before, so how do you switch your cube in between rounds? Are you just allowed to throw a different one into those upside down cube covers when it comes time to?

Yes. Just remember you can only switch between rounds, not during rounds.

Step 1: You submit your cube; any cube before the round starts.

Step 2: If say, halfway through the round, you want to switch cubes, then it's really easy. All you have to do is give the judge a different cube after a solve.

You can switch cubes mid round without informing anybody. After an attempt you are allowed to use another cube, as long as that cube is WCA legal.

Somehow averaging almost consistently sub 7 today . I doubt this insane popoff will stay but I definitely don't mind it while it lasts.

1 second drop in my clock averages after setting it up
My global dropped almost 2 seconds, I average sub 9 now and I used to average like 10. The 9.19 average from week 6 was overall pb when I got it

The average really wasn't bad, it was pretty decent. A lot of solid 6's and even some 5's here and there.
I also really haven't been practicing 4 and 5 that much recently. I took a break from my heavy grinding for about a month or two (only doing about 2 hours of practice a day compared to my previous 4 - 5 hours), but I'm ready to grind again, so I'll get around to that.
Also my 7.68 PR average is very overdue to beat lol, I got it in the beginning of October, so it's been around 5 months. The average is quite bad for the global I'm at right now (around 7.3).

That’s kind of weird. For me if I practise more than 1 hour a day consistently in a specific event that would be considered grinding. A combination of skl stuff and wanting to relax I really have no time to do 4 hours a day at all
