Got Some Questions

Basically you choose any orientation in which more corners will be solved. Take the scramble R2 U F U F2 R' U' R2 for example. (Scramble in your orientation) As always, the BDL corner is solved, but you will have a random orientation normally, so do a y x and notice that the UBR and UFL corners are solved, so now you only need to memo a couple of targets.

UBL is still your buffer. The other spot is called the target, or the helper, and really the only difference between what you do and what others do is just inefficiency, where it's much easier to not have to undo the F/F'

I guess I didn't realize that.
and I just do the F' since I have the regular Y perm in muscle memory. I dont really do BLD for speed..

Anyone want to share their OLL/PLL algs? I'm currently going through the database and seeing which one i want from each. Originally I was just going to use the ones from this one website (Bob's Cubewhiz yada yada), but I'm currently seeing if I like any more.

Why are the OLL/PLL cases named the way they are? The OLL cases are ordered by number in a seemingly random order. . . I made flashcards and reordered them in a way that made sense to me, and named them different things (A1, C3C, etc.)

For the OLL case where two corners are oriented and nothing else (and it has the bar of 3 along the top), do you guys do:

F R U R' U y' R' U2 R' F R F'

or

F R U R' Dw R' U2 R' F R F'

??

I feel like doing U then Y' is faster for me, but it seems like doing just Dw COULD be faster. My fingers don't seem to want to get down there though.

PLL's are named because the permutation of the pieces looks similar to the letter.
OLL's are named kinda weird. I recommend that you focus learning PLL first, but its up to you.

o ya and I use the first case, it just seems faster. Dw moves are awkward

i just went through all my algs (flash cards ftw) and i like most of them. the ones i don't like don't have a better alternative though.

some of the algs on the speedsolving wiki are just stupid. . .like they have so many unnecessary turns and rotations and crap and it comes out to the exact same result.

what does that change and how does it not mess up the whole cube?

are we still talking about 3BLD or 2BLD?

Should I learn 2x2 Blindfolded or 3x3 Blindfolded first?
Learn 3bld corners first. You can then use that method to solve 2bld; 2bld is confusing to start with at first because you don't have centres.

yeah, I think they are just tyring to document that those exist. I recommend trying out all the algs for the cases you dont like (if you haven't already) to find one you might like better.

As for learning algorithms: I think it's best to learn no more than 3 per day. I've found that learning any more just makes you forget them, and it will slow you down trying to recognize and remember the alg for the case.

i've been doing fine with 4

pretty good memory tbh ;)

Honestly for learning OLL, I would recommend learning the easiest to learn algs for most of them, and then once you get fast with them (maybe 15-20sec) learn better algs for the cases that aren't really that fast. For example, I find it really easy to simply learn 2 cases at a time by just learning the mirror of the case with L moves instead of R moves. It's slower, but still faster than 2 look OLL. Once I finish learning OLLs, Ill go through my algs and find the fastest ones. Plus, knowing more than one alg for each case can be really helpful if you want to use OLLCP or something like that (basically if you use OLLCP, you have a 1/12 chance of a PLL skip)
