Going from Petrus to Fridrich

PHZB is solving F2L minus 1 pair- You do this kinda like in Petrus + Heise. 2x2x2 to 2x2x3 to F2L minus 1 pair.
ZBF2L then ZBLL.
The difference is you skip step 3 of Petrus and then do step 4b with ZBF2L
Ahh I see, my mistake... any thoughts on what would be easier/better: PHZB or full Petrus F2L + ZBLL?

Well obviously the one with less algs is "easier". PHZB can average under 40 moves tho so if you want to practice forever you will be a pretty efficient speedsolver.

yeah when i switched from beginner to fridrich i learned the "2-look OLL" which is the 7 OLL's that contain the cross but you really need to concentrate on F2L and PLL I learned all F2L's and PLL's and then when i got my average to like 30 seconds then I was like ya know this 2 look isn't working out anymore then i went on to learn all OLL and now i average around 18 seconds

Hmmm... well what seems odd to me is: the two only differ very slightly regarding the last pair and the orienting of the LL edges right... Why learn ZBF2L which has tons of algs? When you can just use Petrus F2L for last pair and orienting which has barely any algs. Not that Im saying im going to be attempting one or the other, but if (hypothetically speaking) someone was very advanced with Petrus then I cant see any motivation for them to learn ZBF2L just for that last pair+orientation. And i dont foresee a significant gain in time (or moves... i think?) between them. anyway, I was just thinking about it...

combining petrus w/traditional PLL techniques

I've been combining Petrus with the Fridrich PLL techniques and brought my average down significantly. Got the following today doing an avg of 10:
(51), 35, 42, 35, 42, 43, 46, 42, 33, (32), 39, 42: avg 39.9

I've memorized eight of the PLLs and I'm working on the rest gradually. I'm still doing some elementary sune-based OLLs which i should probably switch out some day...
Double sune: (RUR') U (RU') (R'U) R (U2R')
Triple sune: (RUR') U (RU') (R'U) (RU') (R'U) R (U2R')
Sune + Antisune: (RUR') U (RU2) (R2U') (RU'R') (U2R)
Antisune + Sune: (R'U2) (RUR') (UR2U2) (R'U') (RU'R')

The triple sune alg definitely has to go. Double sune feels good on my fingers so I think i'll keep it for now. I'm assuming these algs are well known and that nobody uses them once they move past beginner petrus?

I thought I could save some time by always starting with the same corners in Petrus, kind of like how a lot of fridrich solvers always build the cross on the white side. I don't know if petrus solvers typically work this way, but it didn't help my times at all.

Thanks all for your help and advice. I'm glad I didn't switch to cross for the F2L. I've gotten pretty fast at Petrus F2L now I think i could stick with it and get some good times.
