I just ordered a White DIY(a) from Cube4You.com. Should I use the stickers that come with that or buy some "Rubik's 3x3x3 Textured Tiles" from CubeSmith.com

Currently I have a "Competition Speed Cube" which I bought from eBay but I thought I'd try out a DIY one. I also have a transparent one, it's quite noisey and feels like it's about to snap so I don't use it, also the Vinyl stickers on it are ripped at some parts :/

The competition one I have at the moment has thicker stickers made of textured plastic, they're very good since they don't peel of or discolour easily.

And is it really worth getting a stackmat? I live in the UK so I can't buy them from the official site where they're cheapest (I think).

w00t i just bought a nice white DIY cube from cube4you as well :) I wonder exactly how much better it is than a normal cube you would buy in a store

I've a week old White DIY from Cube4You :-)

I searched around my room for some Cubesmith stickers but found that I didn't have enough for all faces of the cube so I just used the stickers that came with it.

To tell you the truth I reckon the quality of the stickers is right up there with Cubesmith and also beats Rubik's stickers any day. :-P

I'll stick with the stickers that come with it untill they get worn out then. Also how long did you take you (Who ever can) to get a sub 30 or sub 20 solve?

I've been cubing for just over a month and my PB is 38.82 and my average is 43.47.

I've been cubing for just over a month and my PB is 38.82 and my average is 43.47.

I'm keeping logs of my times so:
45 days in my averages were 43.9
I broke 30 seconds in 20 days after that
And I'm gonna break 20 seconds in middle of September if my exponential curve for times stays the same, so that will make it about 80 days after I broke my 30sec. It's getting slower and slower :)

I'm also keeping my logs, yesterday I made two sheets on excel (lol ^^)

Every day I do 40 solves, it then tells me the average of that day, the fastest and slowest solves on that day, so then I can compare and see if I'm getting faster.

My average has increased by a few seconds today, I worked out that each solve on average was 3.5 seconds lower than yesterday :)

I also mnade one when I do 5 solves and it finds the average of the middle three, I just do that when I'm bored and see if I get a faster average over time.

I'm new to cubing so I don't really know what a good cube is, and what a good cube has/does (or how to recognise one) I guess I'll have to try a few out and find what works best for me.

god i miss the days where you improve seconds a day. It gets much slower and much more frustrating later on. For example, I seem to be exhibiting some oscillatory behavior at times... like I will get an average 21.3, next day 21.1, and then next day 23.7, and i'll be wondering what the hell happened.

As for the cubes, I've only ever heard good things about the DIY cubes, so hopefully it's gonna live up to the expectations :)

I don't get it with my cube, apparently it's a 'Competition Cube' The stickers have no logos, they are like a plasticy texture and quite thick for grip. It said (On eBay) that the cube was designed by speed cubers with an average of under 20 designed the cube. I expected it to be perfect but these DIY cubes sound amazing compared to my current one.
