Hello, Speedsolving

I am here to ask for some help, I started cubing for around 3 weeks, and I just switched from beginners to the Fridrich Method, now I am averaging around ±1min, my PB is 51.32 seconds.

Here are the different times in each step:

- Cross - around 8 seconds

- F2L - around 25-35 seconds

- 2look Oll around 11 seconds

- 2-look-PLL - around 10 seconds

It's very frustrating that I can't break through the sub 50 barrier If there are any recommendations I would love to hear you all.

Thank you in Advance!

PS: Just so you know I have very bad look ahead (to be honest almost never). I am working on it but other than that, other suggestions will be great.

(reposting because my earlier reply wasn't very well thought out)
  1. Cross: Plan the full cross in inspection. If you can't do it in 15 seconds, that's fine; take as long as you need to plan all four pieces. If you're doing cross-on-top because it's faster for you, stop. Cross-on-bottom is better in the long run, as it eliminates one slow rotation from the solve.
  2. F2L: Be able to recall the moves needed for an F2L case as soon as you see the corner and edge pieces. For any F2L case that you use more than 7 moves for, see if there's a shorter alg than whatever you're using now.
  3. 2-look OLL: Use good algs (check algdb). Drill the algs until you can get every single one of them under 2.5 seconds (so OLL would take 5 seconds total). One way to do this is to set your timer to generate last layer scrambles and solve only the OLL a few hundred times.
  4. 2-look PLL: Same as above, but you can be a bit more lax: aim for sub-3 on every case (so PLL would take 6 seconds total).
This should be enough to get to sub-40: 5 (cross) + 20 (F2L) + 5 (OLL) + 6 (PLL) = 36. After that it's mainly a matter of learning more last layer algs, training F2L lookahead, and cross-to-F2L transition.

Thank you for all the suggestions xyzzy thanks for the advice I'll definitely take it and try to improve my speed, FJT97, that's a great article!

btw: you can make the hyperlink, by selecting the part of the text and then press the link button on top, the one that looks like 2 chains connecting and then put the link in the URL box.

Until you hit sub20 all you need to do in order to improve is doing lots of solves.

Thank you!, For all the comments, I now average 28.3 seconds, and my PB is 16.25, you all really helped me reach sub 30 thanks!
