I used to do a lot of cubing, I learnt the 2 look CFOP method, and was averaging about 40 seconds, but I haven't touched a cube in many months. I recently got out my cube again, and I can't remember any of the things I used to. Any help getting back into cubing?

Hi Luke, welcome back!

I recently started back up myself, as well. I found I'd forgotten a LOT (all my 4x4 parity algs, a lot of OLLs...), but I've been back cubing for exactly a month now, and I'm nearly as fast as I was before quitting.

I can strongly advise focussed practice, like looking at the different stages of your solve and seeing where you can make the biggest improvements. Maybe try the CFOP Substep Competition?

Most of all, don't get disheartened. It will take time to re-learn the things you've forgotten, and it feels very frustrating because you've already spent the time to learn it. But, with a little effort, you'll soon be back where you were, and even faster!

Try looking t a few other methods as you may find that some of the newer ones more to your taste. Also, don't put off learning algorithms and try to get into the habit of learning them because it will help you if you want to learn more subsets.
