Gans 356 too fast

I recently got a gans 356 recently and out of the box it was extremely fast and cut more than I ever used before (I turn very accurately usually). But it was too loose for my turning style. It turns in ways I'm not trying too and causes frequent lockups and overshooting. Is there a way to slow this cube down slightly. I spent a couple days adjusting and got fairly good with the cube but after only a couple solves on my 4x4 I reverted to my old way of turning and found myself locking up and overshooting again on the gans 356.

I have tried loading it up with lube and it only made it smoother with a slight dampening of speed. Tightening the cube to where I am comfortable with the speed makes corner cutting terrible (worse than my old Guhong V2). Other than the speed the cube is perfect. It's smooth and corner cuts great but turns almost friction-less. Is there a way of slowing down a cube other than loading more and more lube into it or tightening the tensions?

Any input is greatly appreciated.

P.S. I did use the search function but could not find anything relevant. If there is a thread that would help that would also be appreciated.

I had this same problem. What I did is wipe it all the line out and tighten the centers while at the same time loosennthe corners 2-3 half turns. This along with practice makes it controllable. I find mine is slow with out any lube so have weight 1 in mine and its pretty slick :-)

Hope this helps!

I had a similar problem with my fangshi jieyun. I lubed the core and pieces with weight 4. Basically I put so much weight 4 on the pieces that it would get almost stuck if not used for a few hours. It was pretty nasty in there, and felt really gummy and slimy. I did like 25 solves, and then it became really good. It's nice and fast now, but it feels controllable and stable. Maybe you should try this method if you really aren't satisfied, but it does require quite a bit of lube.

try swapping springs to a heavier set can be found at the cubicle.us http://thecubicle.us/gans-56mm-spring-sets-p-4310.html. I have the tightest springs in and corner cutting and everything is the same apart from its speed - its very controllable.

hope this helps!

I'll have to try that but don't want to order anything unless I have other stuff to buy. Shipping on something small like that to Canada cost about as much as the part.

I'll have to try that and mess around with tensions and lube. I'm guessing the lube is just going in the little grooves on the pieces and that's why it takes so much. I'll probable end up washing the thing out. Wiping doesn't seam to get all the lube off.

I messed with the tensions in the edges, corners, and centers and messed with different lubes (lubicle, Polytetrafluoroethylene, and silicon shock fluid) and found a good mix. The adjustable edge and corner pieces allow for a great amount of customization. That and mixing the lubes made it harder to start turning (make accidentally turning it harder) and turns fast once it starts turning.
