Melbourne Cube Days 2023
Happiest about getting 14th place in my first ever FMC attempt with a 37-move sub PB solution.
Also 2x2 sub 4 single, OH sub 30 single, 3x3 sub 13 single are pretty nice.
5x5 avg and 2x2 NR100 avg are also very good, and almost got sub 1 single in 4x4 and sub 5 single in 7x7.
3x3 sub 16 avg in 2nd round was pretty nice as well, where this is the first time for me to get into 3x3 2nd round.
Worst are 6x6, 4BLD and 3BLD, where my hands were kinda shaky and didn’t even make the 4mins cutoff, where I’m averaging low 3 at home. It was very cold that morning in Melbourne, but it was a huge mistake for me not to wear my coat while solving, but that kinda contributes to my performance in all the other events after that, and 6x6 was my first event in this comp. For 3BLD, I really had high hopes for getting a PR single as well as getting into the finals. However, the scrambles were pretty tough and I ended up with 3 DNFs. 4BLD fail is kinda expected, but considering the scrambles are pretty nice, I should have done better in 4BLD.
Overall, I very happy about being part of this comp, and thanks Feliks for the nice cube cover of Worlds 2017 in Paris (I left my cube cover in Hong Kong and it’s not ideal to practice blind solving without that).

4x4 PB on my flight from Melbourne to Singapore!

Done with Yau on the BC Aosu, where I was doing Redux + 3-2-3 in Melbourne cube days using the BC YJ Mini as I just learnt yau lately and I wanna play safe in this comp, and now I think aosu is better for yau coz the outers on the yj mini is a bit too thin for yau.
