What should my average be to go to my first Cubing Competition?please share your average in your first Competition.I am interested in going to an online Cubing competition because of Corona

Your average should be under the cutoff to go to your first competition. The cutoff is usually around 10:00.00, so basically go as soon as you can. Comps aren't really about if you solve faster than everyone else but meeting a bunch of other cubers to talk to and have fun with. I was averaging Sub-20 when I went to my first comp, but it doesn't matter the speed. Go as soon as you can

Unfortunately due to COVID-19, most upcoming comps have been cancelled. Whenever there's one near you though, I highly recommend going to it. Competitions are a blast and it doesn't matter your speed, you can still have a great time. Competitions are one of the things I miss right now :(. And about online competitions, they really aren't the same experience. I competed in the first Cubing at Home online competition and it wasn't even fun, it just felt like a chore.

It doesn’t matter, your average. Comps are about having fun, and socialising. Only the best at each competition will have a chance to really be competitive for prizes and podiums anyway. As long as you can solve the cube (in a reasonable amount of time, like in a few minutes or less), go to one! Meet new people, don’t be shy, and have fun there!
Unfortunately most comps have been cancelled due to COVID-19, but they’ll be some towards the end of the year, and next year.

I averaged sub 12 when I went to my first comp, which is not typical by any means. It seems like most people average between 20 and 1:30 when they go to their first comp. For online comps, honestly, it doesn't matter one bit. I would highly recommend dong an online comp regardless of what you average

honestly I sort of agree, which is why I don't do cubing at home very often. I'd rather just practice than do an online comp. Unless it's a smaller online competitions, because then I can get something out of it. I've already gotten around $100 in gift cards from online comps, and am still waiting on more.

Yeah I see why you would want to do smaller ones more where there are less competitors. My main problem with the online comps is that, no matter what you do, you can't recreate the fun and socialization of a real competition, which is the best part of cubing comps.

If your just looking to compare your times to others just join the free online comp here weekly. While I haven’t been to an actual competition because I’m much older than the average population there, I’d expect online competitions to be underwhelming if you don’t plan on being in the running to win, especially as your first competition-they are aimed at competitive cubers still looking to compete.

The best benefit of a cube comp to seems to be the social engagement and chance to interact with like minded friends in your community. That’s gone in an online comp.

Averages dont matter; I went to my first comp averaging 35-40, and i messed up terribly cause of nerves and got a 55 average, but I still had so much fun.
